Peter Vance is desperately unhappy. He is in a destructive marriage and in a job that he hates. There is no escape. One day, while out walking he sees a landscape in the window of a local Gallery. He buys the picture and hangs it on the living room wall, much to his wife’s disgust. As a refuge he spends many hours looking at the painting of La Ville Corin. Gradually he creates characters for the residents. His fantasies take him into imagining scenarios. One day, after a particularly brutal argument with his wife he goes to his bedroom and goes to sleep. He wakes up in the morning in very unfamiliar surroundings. He staggers to the window and opens the drapes. He finds himself in the Ville Corin. He looks into the distance and sees his old living room
